Palliative Care is global care, encompassing the clinical, psychological and spiritual needs of patients and their families and aims to achieve the best quality of life possible and respect for human dignity. The moral authority of religions has global reach and one of the common primary aspirations of all religions is the protection of the vulnerable. Since these patients are among the most vulnerable, our desire is to disseminate this universal declaration that Palliative Care is the best approach, and a right, for all older people affected by advanced chronic conditions.

Every older person with chronic or incurable illness has the right to receive Palliative Care.

The goal of Palliative Care is to take care of the person in totality even when there is no longer a cure. This care foresees a team of different and diverse professional figures: doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, social and religious assistants helping patients and their families.

Palliative Care is not a palliative.

Together we have the opportunity to spread the meaning and the profound value of Palliative Care and sensitize every country so that it may become an integral part of every national healthcare system.
